Stepping on stage in his first show at the 2016 NPC Battle for the Eagle in Eugene, Oregon fueled the fire for Akida Ramsey. After his first show, he was hooked and wanted more! After a couple more shows and more wins in the NPC, he decided to test the waters at a National Level show... so he chose the NPC Master's Nationals in Pittsburgh. It was a great choice because he won his very own IFBB Pro card! We are excited to see what is next for Akida, but in the meantime... he is loving life and enjoying the moment with family!

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
I started competing in October 2016 at NPC Battle for the Eagle... this was my first show and it started the buzz and desire for more.

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
What makes me want to go farther in the sport is most definitely my children, fiancée and family. Whatever door may open through me competing will be a blessing to us all.
3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
My training during the off-season is fairly basic, 5 days a week in the gym. Focusing on fairly high-volume basic compound movements, focusing on chest and back twice a week. Contest prep consist of 6 days a week in the gym, 20 minute morning cardio before work, go to work for 8 to 10 hours, laborious production work Building Homes, hit the gym after work focusing on higher reps shorter rest periods. Then posing for 20 minutes and then cardio for another 20 minutes.
4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
My favorite dieting meals are oatmeal with sugar-free syrup with fit peanut butter powder and whey protein, also egg whites scrambled with ground turkey salsa and rice. My favorite cheat meal is all of the food LOL, favorite cheap food for sure is lots of frozen yogurt.
5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
Number one God has helped me get to the place I'm at today. Outside of that definitely my biggest support system includes Desirae my fiancée, My mother Arrow, my siblings Paris, Precious, Jolain, Mashariki, my children KiAnte, Mathew, Camilla, Andre, definitely my brothers and the Oxford Community featured in the picture below with the IFBB Pro card. Definitely tons of friends and family inside and outside of social media, all of the people from my work at Clayton Homes. Also a lot of competitors both amateur and IFBB Pro.
6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
What makes me want to strive more in the sport for sure is my family, fiancée, my children, and all of those who look up to me and are proud of the accomplishments I've made, who include those I've mentioned in the previous question.
7. What is next for you as a competitor?
What's next for me as a competitor is to hopefully be blessed with a sponsor, and my first competition will be next August at the Tampa Pro in Tampa Florida for the Masters over 40 men's physique class.
8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My favorite memory hands down since I've competed is when I was able to compete in front of my father who I haven't seen for 30 years his wife and my fiancée at a national show in Pittsburgh. This is where I received my IFBB Pro card and got an interview and in that interview I proposed to my beautiful girlfriend who said that she would marry me! I still wake up weeks Later, early in the morning being excited about all that happened that weekend!

10. Anything you would like to say to all the visitors to NPC Oregon?
I would like to say to anyone visiting NPC Oregon is that I've been treated with the utmost respect, love, and support that I could ever ask for in any sport. I would encourage any athlete interested in competing to go for it with the NPC, it's a place to learn and grow and possibly find, like I did, a place that shows you anything is possible with the right amount of work consistency support and love.
