1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
About ten years ago, my first show was in October of 2003 at the Seven Feathers. I actually started out doing bodybuilding.

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
It's addicting. I just love the rush of being on stage!

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
Lots of cross training, i.e. heavy lifting, as well as Crossfit style training and various cardio.

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?

Sweet potatoes and chicken are a treat when I'm dieting. Favorite cheat is cheesecake, off season of course!

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
Bill Haynes is my current trainer, he's amazing!  I've changed my body dramatically since training with him. Before I moved to Bend I trained with Jayson Tonkin out of Medford, OR for about 7 years. He's a wonderful trainer who mentored me throughout most of my competitions.

6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
Looking to be the best I can possibly be.

7. What is next for you as a competitor?
Nationals in Vegas at the end of July. Very excited!

8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
My first show was two days after Halloween, I remember being all Pro Tanned up while handing out candy. People probably thought I was just dressed up for Halloween.

9. Any website you would like to plug, facebook, twitter, personal site, etc...
People can find me on Facebook under Jessica Hickman-Christensen.

10. Anything you would like to say to all the visitors to NPC Oregon?
To anyone interested in competing I would encourage them to just try it once, it will be an experiance you'll never forget!
