JERRY BRASWELL
IFBB CLASSIC PHYSIQUE PRO

Starting with building a foundation for competitive bodybuilding, Jerry Braswell made an impact right away! Winning a couple Overalls in Oregon and then deciding to take it to the National level, it was pretty clear that Classic Physique was the right division since Jerry is a taller bodybuilder.

So, Jerry entered the 2017 NPC Nationals and placed 3rd his first time at a National level competition. After getting so close to an IFBB Pro Card, he decided to set his sights on the 2018 NPC USA Championships. Well, it was a great plan because Jerry went on to win his class and also his very own IFBB Pro Card... now, it's time to see what Jerry will bring to the IFBB Pro stage.

1. When and why did you decide to start competing?
My first Competition was in 2009. It was the Oregon state championships. I weighed in at 170lbs that day. Now! We need to remember I'm over 6 foot, so 170lbs was not that much. I placed 3rd at that show out of 4 guys. That's when I decided I really like and what this sport has to offer.

What made me decide to compete was people just asking if I ever did a show or have thought of doing one.

2. What makes you want to go farther in the sport?
All the things the life style brings. It has showed me how to be a better man and taught me how great things come in time. Work hard and put your head down is how I live my life.

Bodybuilding is just that! You get what you give and the only one that can hold you back is yourself.

3. What type of training do you implement during contest prep and the in the off-season?
I use the same style offseason and on! I'm always pushing myself 110%. I tend to do higher reps from 15-20reps per set and doing 4-5 sets. I like working each muscle 1-2 times per week. Depending on how I feel and how my body is recovering.

4. What is your favorite type of dieting meals and what is your favorite type of cheat meal?
My number 1 favorite meal for prep would have to be Rice Baby food with egg whites and some sweetener. My favorite cheat meal would have to be Pizza and Cookies or something sweet.

5. Who are some of the people that have helped you along the way to get where you are now in life or in the sport?
This sport is a sport where you are your outcome. There is no one that will get you to your goals. But there's people around you that give you great support! One being my wife (Brenna Braswell), she has been there really from the beginning as my girlfriend at my first show to my wife when I turned PRO.

I have had lots of workout partners that played there part and friends that would push me when I was thinking it was not possible. But other then that it really comes down to who you want to be and how much you are willing to give.

6. Who or what inspires you to strive for more in the sport?
Really just myself! I want to be better, I want to build something new each year, I want to see what my body can do.

7. What is next for you as a competitor?
Now! We move up to the IFBB and see how we fit in there. I don't want me turning pro to end me being competitive in this sport. So I'm doing what needs to be done to make sure I make I splash in the IFBB.

8. What is your favorite memory good or bad while prepping or competing?
One of the best memories and feeling as a competitor was when I came out for my posing routine and the crowd was screaming and yelling! It was the must humbling feeling to know you are inspiring people and making people happy with the way you look and present yourself.

9. Any website you would like to plug, Facebook, Twitter, personal site, etc...
Kamikaze Sports Nutrition on Instagram and Facebook
Beard milk on Instagram and my own Facebook Page: Jerry Braswell

10. Anything you would like to say to all the visitors to NPC Oregon?

Learn to love the journey of the sport! Don't just think of winning because at the end of the day you can only control how you look and feel. So feel your best and look your best and you will win.
